Expendable Feeder Tubes
Overview
Feeder tubes are used in the spout that feeds the molten glass to the forming machine within the hollow glass manufacturing process. The rotating tube is used to homogenize the molten glass and to allow heating or cooling if vent holes are present. The expendable refractory tube is used to control the flow of glass through to the orifice ring below and is also used to shut off the flow of glass if necessary by being lowered onto the surface of the spout.
Pyrotek’s expendable refractories provide glass manufacturers with proven performance. The precast expendables are available in a variety compositions. In-stock moulds ensure timely delivery.
Benefits include:
• High-volume stability
• Resistance to alkali vapours
• Resistance to thermal shock
• Excellent resistance to corrosion
• Excellent hot-load properties
