Air Guide Screws

Overview

An air guide screw, also known as guide air screw, is a screw wrapped in a spring that has a hole that runs from the bottom of the screw up to the head. Compressed air passes through the screw during the hollow glass manufacturing process. The screw is used in two places after the bottle or container is formed.

Air guide 1: Directs air through the screw onto the hot bottle or container at the point where the take-out is holding the container as it hovers above the deadplate. The air from the screw has to be strong enough to direct the bottle or container into the pocket of the sweep-out.

Air guide 2: directs air through the screw on to the hot bottle or container at the point where the sweep-out is moving the container onto the conveyor. The air from the screw has to be strong enough to hold the bottle or container in position as it begins moving along the conveyor.

Pyrotek offers air guide screws for container glass production.
