Flue End Seals and Baffles
Overview
Flue-end seals—also called flue-end baffles, baffle seals or obturators—are designed to cover flue head wall openings ahead of the exhaust manifold to maintain draft and prevent cold air from mixing into the system. They are held tightly against the end of the flue openings by negative pressure from the exhaust manifold. Air leakage through flue-end seals causes cooler gas temperatures in the manifold and side mains and increase the amount of air handled by the main fans at the scrubber. Older furnaces will be harder to seal and may require a more flexible material or design to seal against the distorted face of the older flue ends.
- Improve furnace sealing efficiency: The combination of high-performance materials, custom designs and quality manufacturing helps prevent unwanted air ingress into the furnace.
- Proven performance in anode bake furances globally: The Pyrotek team of experts will provide customers with the design expertise required for the three categories of flue seals: basic, mechanical and inflatable.
- Complete selection of high-temperature textiles: The Pyrotek material matrix includes a wide array of choices to ensure flue-end seal strength, dependability and long service life.
- Reduce labour costs through Pyrotek refurbishment: Additional value can be created by removing spent seals from the customer site and replacing worn components. This lends itself well to a VMI program.
