Downspouts

Overview

In conjunction with control pins, downspouts are refractory shape components used in slab/rolling ingot casting to help transfer and move molten metal from the distribution trough into the ingot mould.

Downspouts are tubes made from Pyrotek's dense fused silica (DFS) or from a Pyrocast refractory with top, bottom or middle choke designs. Each design is made with consideration of the control pin and desired metal flow. Pyrotek offers refractory spout seats that match the downspouts and ensure a tight, non-stress inducing fitment.
