About the Role

As a Design Specialist, you’ll collaborate closely with Project Engineers to create and refine complex mechanical and electrical designs for advanced apparatus, machinery, and equipment. From drafting precision schematics to overseeing design accuracy in our SNIF Drawing Database, you'll be at the heart of innovation—translating concepts into real-world engineering solutions.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage detailed design layouts, considering functionality, cost, and visual appeal.
  • Draft electrical control schematics, piping, and wiring diagrams with a focus on precision and safety.
  • Analyze materials, conduct stress calculations, and contribute to vendor selection.
  • Guide and support drafters, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all project drawings.
  • Maintain design version control and ensure Engineering Change Notices are processed correctly.
  • Provide on-site technical expertise to clients and support quality audits and team initiatives.
  • Champion Pyrotek’s core values through collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Travel to customer locations, as needed, to provide technical expertise and support.

This position can be seated in our Aurora, Ohio or Cortland, New York offices.  This is an in-office role.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of drafting and CADD experience with complex gas flow systems and industrial equipment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and design techniques.
  • Proven skills in Microsoft Office, Visio, and CADD software.
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and U.S. passport (or ability to obtain).
  • Passion for professional development and continuous learning.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and environmentally responsible practices.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%, providing hands-on support across various locations.

Must be able to sit for long periods-of-time, bend and reach, use stairs, lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and communicate effectively in English by telephone, in person and in writing. Effectively use a personal computer, office equipment and telephone.  

Working Environment
While performing the essential responsibilities of this position, Team Member generally will work in an office environment, with occasional work in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles.  Periodic exposure to outdoor environment through open doors. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as approved footwear, respirators, safety glasses/goggles, required.

The minimum and maximum salary range for this full-time position is $60,000 - $80,000 + benefits.   

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.  Please note that the compensation details listed in this posted role reflect the base salary only and do not include bonus or benefits.
